The Role: Secondary English Teacher
The Secondary English Teacher will deliver engaging, challenging, and creative English Language and Literature lessons across the secondary school. The role requires an ability to inspire a love of reading, writing, analysis, and communication, while helping students develop confidence in critical thinking and self-expression.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves planning and teaching well-structured English lessons that promote deep understanding, strong literacy skills, and a genuine enjoyment of literature and language study. You will teach key areas such as textual analysis, creative writing, essay writing, speaking and listening, grammar, and exam preparation.
You will create a classroom environment that is stimulating, supportive, and intellectually challenging, encouraging students to participate actively and share their ideas. Lessons should be differentiated to meet a range of abilities, interests, and learning needs, ensuring that all students make meaningful progress.
You will assess student work regularly and accurately, using assessment information to guide instruction and provide clear, constructive feedback. Ongoing communication with parents regarding progress, achievements, and next steps is also an important part of the role.
Collaboration with colleagues is essential, including contributing to curriculum planning, assessment design, and enrichment activities offered by the English department. The role also includes involvement in wider school life through activities such as reading clubs, writing workshops, drama events, debate sessions, or competitions. Professional development and strong subject knowledge are expected to ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning.
Requirements
Candidates should hold a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE, B.Ed, QTS, or equivalent, and have a minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience. Experience with the IPC, IMYC, or the British curriculum is an advantage. A native or fluent level of English is essential. Teachers should be creative, organised, and enthusiastic about inquiry-based and hands-on learning.
Salary & Benefits
The package includes a very competitive international salary, flights or a relocation allowance, medical insurance, and an accommodation allowance. A pension contribution or completion bonus is provided at the end of the contract. The contract is offered on a two-year renewable basis, with comprehensive professional development opportunities and a supportive working environment.
