Middle School PE Teacher 

Start Date: August 2026

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and student-centred Middle School PE Teacher with a strong specialism in volleyball to join the Physical Education Department. The successful candidate will teach Physical Education across the Middle School grades while leading the school’s volleyball programme, developing technical skills, teamwork, coordination and a lifelong enjoyment of sport.

The role requires a teacher who can deliver engaging, well-structured PE lessons for early adolescents, introduce and develop core volleyball techniques, and inspire confidence and resilience in students of varying ability levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to differentiate activities, support both beginner and experienced players, and maintain a safe, inclusive and energetic learning environment that promotes positive attitudes to physical activity and competition.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The teacher will deliver engaging and well-planned PE lessons across the Middle School grades, developing students’ physical literacy, fitness, coordination and cooperative skills.
  • They will lead the school’s Middle School volleyball programme, planning progressive training sessions that focus on fundamental techniques, tactical understanding, team play and safe practice.
  • The role includes organising training sessions, fixtures, tournaments and school sporting events, while promoting sportsmanship, discipline and positive competitive values.
  • The teacher will contribute to PE curriculum development, ensuring programmes align with international standards and meet the developmental needs of Middle School students.
  • Assessment will be based on observation, participation, skill development and individual progress, with constructive verbal and written feedback provided to support student confidence and improvement.
  • The teacher will support co-curricular sports activities, collaborate with colleagues across the school and actively promote healthy, active lifestyles within the Middle School community.

  • The teacher will maintain a safe, organised and positive learning environment, ensuring lessons are inclusive, age-appropriate and engaging.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should hold a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a closely related field.
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, state certification or a national teaching licence is required.
  • Experience teaching PE at Middle School level is essential, along with a proven background in coaching or playing volleyball.
  • A strong understanding of adolescent physical development and the ability to adapt instruction to different ability levels is expected.
  • Experience in an international or bilingual school environment, and familiarity with student-centred or inquiry-based PE approaches, will be considered an advantage.

  • Annual salaries typically range from USD $53,000 to $65,000, with additional bonuses and pension contributions.
