AP Chemistry Teacher
Start Date: September 2026

The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable AP Chemistry Teacher to join a strong and supportive Science Department. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction, guide them in mastering advanced chemical concepts, and prepare them thoroughly for AP assessments and university-level science. The role requires a commitment to inquiry-based learning, laboratory experimentation, and high academic expectations.

The School
Founded in 2016, the school is a well-established K12 international school situated at the base of historic YuQuan Mountain in Haidian District, Beijingan area known for academic excellence and its proximity to leading universities. The 200,000-square-metre campus includes modern academic buildings, landscaped gardens, and over 140,000 square metres of green space. Elementary School covers K5, Middle School covers grades 68, and High School includes grades 912. Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning
Teach high-quality AP Chemistry and High School Chemistry classes.
Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet AP and school curriculum expectations.
Use a range of teaching strategies to support different learning needs.
Encourage inquiry, experimentation, and analytical thinking through regular lab investigations.
Use technology and laboratory equipment effectively to enhance student learning.

Curriculum Development
Develop and refine AP Chemistry materials to ensure alignment with the College Board and international standards.
Create links with Physics, Biology, Mathematics, and other STEM subjects where appropriate.
Support students preparing for AP examinations and competitive university pathways.

Student Assessment and Support
Assess student understanding through tests, lab reports, assignments, and projects.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student progress.
Recognise students who require additional support or extension and offer appropriate guidance.

Co-Curricular Activities
Support science clubs, competitions, fairs, Olympic-style academic activities, or STEM-related events.
Promote interest in chemistry and the sciences across the wider school community.

Professional Collaboration
Work closely with Science Department colleagues on planning, assessment, and curriculum development.
Participate in professional learning and in whole-school events and initiatives.

Classroom and Laboratory Management
Maintain a safe and well-organised laboratory environment.
Ensure that chemical handling, storage, and disposal follow safety guidelines.
Manage lab equipment and resources responsibly and efficiently.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements
A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related subject.
A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, state certification, or national licence (not TEFL/TESOL).
Experience teaching Chemistry at High School level.
Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for chemistry and scientific inquiry.

Desirable Attributes
Experience teaching AP Chemistry or an equivalent pre-university Chemistry programme.
Experience in an international school or bilingual learning environment.
A record of preparing students for external examinations and university admissions.

Remuneration and Benefits
The salary and benefits package is highly competitive and reflects experience and qualifications.
Typical annual base salary ranges from USD $53,000 to $65,000, with additional bonuses and pension contributions.
